A strange day this one.
I’d been waiting all week to get my filthy paws on another brief and it finally came along today. But now we’re not in work til bloody Tuesday. Doh.
Still, I suppose it gives me the weekend to work on it at home. Then hopefully hit next week at full speed! I really want to do something with this brief. It’s a new product in the beverages market and it’s a pretty juicy brief really. There’s a massive amount of scope and it could go anywhere. Two much more senior teams are also looking at it and I really wanna do something that can sit alongside their work for consideration. A little daunting really.
I’d say it was about one minute and thirty-six seconds after we came out that briefing that we had to go into an all agency meeting. A quarterly review type shindig. All I wanted to do was start work. But then I make my way upstairs to the meeting room with everyone else and there’s a table full of Peroni to sup on while we sit through the presentation.
Whilst I can’t give too much away about the TBWA quarterly review, I have to say it was unlike any other presentation I’ve sat through. You can see people enjoy working here, the effort and fun that was put into each presentation was great. It took in new business, awards, objectives, future plans…that type of thing.
Some people just presented things they’d found which were inspiring. Youtube clips, ads, design, art. My favourite, even though it’s a little cheesy, was a clip they played from Any Given Sunday. I love the film. If you’ve seen it, you probably know straight away which bit was played. If you haven’t seen it, do so immediately!
Feck it, I’ll post it here….cos it’s class. This bit of the presentation was about teamwork and a bit of a motivational really. No, I didn’t ‘whoop’. But you know. Watch this without getting goosebumps.
Even better when you watch the full film.
I was happy to get a little mention in the quarterly meeting. Someone was talking about promotion really. Whether it’s in attracting new business or the right people etc. And they referenced my cross stunt. Hope.
So after all this there was a mass exodus to the pub for dinner. And most of the day was gone! I asked a few people if they’ll be in on bank holiday monday, but it doesn’t seem to be an idea many people had. I was gonna go in, but I think I’d be on my own.
Day 6 then will be next Tuesday. This weekend I will be mostly working on my brief at home though.
Inch by inch.
