Day 7: Getting it right & getting a re-write

May 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I keep mentioning the ghd brief, client, work and whatever comes after ghd. I guess that’s because my trial has been building up to this moment when my work goes under the client’s nose. Veterans will be more than use to it of course, but to me getting a brief on Monday and having something to present two or three days later, well that’s been my acid test. That’s the feeling I got today anyway.

Apparently the client loved more than one of the campaigns we came up with. There was probably four of ours presented to them today. I experienced my first request for a re-write from the accounts people as well. Censorship if you will. I had to remove the word burning and the word hate from some long copy, before it went in front of the client. Fairly trivial, small amounts of change I suppose, and I did try to fight for them words a little. But, in the end, the copy was changed slightly.

It was quite a good feeling though when first an accounts person bounded up saying how well it went, then one of the CD’s came up and boosted our ego’s more than a tad with some congratulations on it all going down so well.

We’ve got two other briefs going on at the moment. The biggie is the product coming onto the drinks market. So we’ve been slaving on that as much as we can. There’s an initial presentation tomorrow. But I’m not sure exactly what the script is, as it’s another meeting with the accounts team who briefed us and the other creatives. So I’m presuming we’re all gonna show our ideas to everyone and then the CD’s and accounts dudes will fish out the routes they think are the right ones. We felt like we had some good thoughts today though, and started scamping them up. It’s mainly press apparently, but we found a couple of potential ideas for ambient stuff which I think is pretty cool.

I will post up stuff at some point! Seems a bit wrong talking about it all the time, but not showing it. Best to wait until it’s live and out there or dead in the water first though.
