It’s almost 11pm. I’m trying to dry a pair of undercrackers using the heat from my laptop, so I’ve got some to wear tomorrow. Otherwise I’ll be commando.
I have invented a new timezone. Forget Central European Time. That was always wrong. Wave goodbye even, to Greenwich Meantime. I now operate in the Tea Time Zone. I estimate how long things will take, by the number of cups of tea I will drink in that time.
Huzzah.

An update on my desk (after the personalising my desk question/post).
Managed to acquire myself a set of draws for some more desktop space. Also handy for use as ‘bottom draw’, ie – somewhere to put all those ideas that don’t get the nod, but are actually quite good.
One of fantastic designers also made a few of us some lovely vinyl ashtray type things. Somewhere to plonky bits and bobs. Cheers Molly.

Can an advert for Waitrose be my favourite TV ad of the year so far?
This goes close, but something in it just loses me for a bit, some of the bursts, I don’t know maybe they don’t look real, or it switches about too much
And also in contention, the Budweiser jam ads. I think these are a love/hate campaign. I know some people really don’t like ‘em, but I’m into ‘em. Though I’m sure I saw one with a different song which I really liked!
What’s yours? What have I missed?

To make up for my ignorance…
The French Eurovision entry was by Sebastien Tellier, this first youtube clip is the official vid for his Eurovision song. Lovely it is too.
BUT, when I searched for more on him, I found this…Possibly one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Genuinely. Play it. Soak it up. (I’m sure it’s been sampled too).
I now want to see him live! And possibly to mimmick his beard/sunglasses combo.

Bloody hell, the French song was one of the best songs ever!
Ever.

The desk I’ve been stationed to was seemingly used for the placement people, as such there was a selection of junk to clear off it. Nothing really good, just scrap. But now my desk is pretty bare and it makes me sad. People have lots of cool random things on there desks, whereas I’m redundant even just of a measly pen holder. The one thing I seem to have collected is a Sunderland FC sticker (Panini style, but not). Well, that’s no good to me being a Boro fan.
So, gimme some inspiration – what have you got on your desk? The randomer, the better.
(ps – no comments on the word randomer, I’ve decided I like it)

Shame some of the protesters didn’t manage to get through and grab the flame or put it out. The amount of police and Chinese officials around the thing was unreal. Shame we can’t have the same attitude towards protecting people as we do towards protecting the stupid flame and our own image.
Here’s the Google ad I’d made, was gonna wait til I got a few together, but I’m now thinking something more serious, hard-hitting and more to do with the olympics is in order. So I’ll just pop this one up in honour of the protesters today, they got some good coverage for their cause at least.

Or Tibetadoogle.
Lots going on to do with Tibet and China and the 2008 Olympics currently. I’d previously knocked up a Burmese Monk stencil when the monks were being killed during peaceful protests. I’m not hugely political, but sometimes these things really grab my attention.
I’ve been looking into the whole Tibet malarkey this week. And it’s a pile of guff! I may boycott the 2008 Olympics. I doubt the British Team will miss me much, but China are a fucking disgrace and don’t deserve to be holding such an iconic event as this.
Over on Its All About The Crit they talked about how they sometimes get a real good thought, but then see it in print etc a week or so later. I was jotting down some ideas about this whole Tibet thing, for the Free Tibet campaign, and one I thought of was simply the Olympic Rings as handcuffs. Anyway the protesters beat me to it. Some guys tried to disrupt the Olympic Torch ceremony in Greece today and they had a flag with Olympic Rings/handcuffs. Good on ‘em.
Still, it’s a damn good cause and I’m gonna think up some ideas for it.
With all the info I’ve been reading on Tibet, I’ve seen some pretty disgusting facts. One that stands out, which I’ve got an idea for, is that Google actually pandered to the Chinese government demand and set up Google.cn for them which actually filtered out any search results to do with Tibet or the Free Tibet campaign. Tossers.
Anyway, hope to get some ideas up for this and other stuff soon.
